In other news it has been suggested a possible swap of wingers in Simmonds for Pearson for PHI and LA by John Hoven could make sense.
Simmonds 29 1 year left 3.98M
Pearson 25 3 years left 3.750
This could actually be a decent trade. Resign Simmonds after next year if he’s still producing (I believe he will especially lined up with Carter) around 4years/4.5-5.5M |

I wouldn't do it. 25 vs 29 years old is a big difference. This may make the Kings marginally better right now, but it is detrimental to the team in the medium and long term, especially if Simmonds decides to pull a Lucic.
IMO the only way the Kings trade Pearson is if it is as part of a package for a definite upgrade, or if they get someone the same age or younger in return. |

I read a thing that suggested that LA would use Pearson in a trade for a top 4 dman. |

Coincidentally, it crossed my mind during the game last night that Pearson could get himself traded at the deadline if he doesn't pick it up. Guys like him seem to get traded a lot, since they're not good enough to be considered essential players, but are good enough for other teams to want them. Blake needs to offer something of value to get something of value back, after all. That's how Lombardi ended up trading Simmonds. It certainly wasn't because he wanted to. |

Pearson, LaDue, 2nd for galchenyuk and the kings 5th back.
With Clague coming up LaDue may be expendable. But then the kings may want to trade Pearson for a Dman.
Idk. What I do know is something needs to be done to fix the lineup |

Pearson is coming off a career year during a season where most players slumped. Additionally, he's been playing with a subpar center for most of the season. I think they're willing to give him a break, especially since he signed a very team friendly deal. If he continues to under perform once Carter returns, and then continues to struggle next season, then I think Blake shops him around. However, right now, I don't think he's going anywhere, not due to poor performance anyway. |

Pass. The last thing we need is another unmotivated forward with work ethic issues. |

It's funny, because Blake was quoted earlier this season saying that he'd be willing to trade a top 4 defenseman for scoring help if the Kings were having scoring troubles. They're #1 in the NHL in defense, and have been having scoring troubles lately. If anything, I think Blake would ship out Muzzin or Martinez for a top six forward before they trade Pearson for a defenseman. |

It was easy to think that Simmonds wasn't going anywhere, either, and he was an even bigger fan favorite than Pearson. He, too, was a year removed from a career year and wasn't traded due to poor performance. It was a business decision and he was just the most eligible trade chip. Pearson will probably not be traded--we agree there--but it wouldn't be too much of a surprise if he is. |

I agree that if Pearson does get traded it would be in the same vein as the Mike Richards trade. He'd be packaged up with another prospect and traded for a young, quality forward either under a long-term, team-friendly contract or with several years of RFA eligibility remaining. I don't think they'd do a one-for-one trade, especially since LW is the position at which the Kings have been historically weak.
Also, Wayne Simmonds never really had a career year with the Kings. He put up 16G/40P one season, but there were 8 other Kings that scored 16+ goals that year. Simmonds had the occasional flash of brilliance, but was never considered to be higher than a 3rd liner on the Kings. Brayden Schenn was the centerpiece for the Kings that was traded away.
On the other hand, Pearson was 2nd on the Kings in goals last season and has regularly played in the top six since making the lineup. |

LaDue isnt going anytime soon. They still havent seen what they got in him. Clague is whats maybe makes Muzzin or Martinez trade bait. Depending on how they feel about it. They were comparing him with his d partner Mete from the Canadians who made the NHL full time. If they feel hes on par with Mete he would be NHL ready next season. |

Yeah to be honest I don’t want to trade him. I’m surprised he hasn’t been in the lineup yet. I liked what I saw in the time he played last year. I figured if he were to be traded it would be for a young talented forward hence galchenyuk who I know would fetch a lot. But since hearing about his bad work ethic maybe he’s not the player. Landeskog would be nice too but now since COL decided to do well it most likely won’t happen. |

I dont really believe that Galchenyuk has bad work ethic. I thin Montreal as a whole isn't doing good. Not to mention the coaching staff keeps moving him around. There are a ton of targets for LA. I think they need a skilled forward with good foot speed. Iafallo opens up the ice with his speed. He just doenst have any finish. Which is why I wanna see him in Ontario. See if he can finish at that lvl. Hes got the talent to dominate down there. I think Evander Kane would be a good target honestly. |
